Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish
There are individuals and families within our parishes and nearby areas who will not share a traditional Thanksgiving meal without your help. Our parish St. Vincent de Paul Conference encourages everyone to bring donations of non-perishable foods to Masses during the weekend of November 16-17, 2024.
Items will be distributed to needy families by the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at Saint Sebastian Church. Please check the expiration dates beforehand and place your donations in the decorated baskets or food bins at Incarnation of the Lord, Saint Athanasius, Saint Sebastian and Saint Teresa of Avila churches.
Since local supermarkets no longer give away free turkeys, you may consider a donation for the purchase of certificates that will be given to needy families to buy their turkeys. If you wish to donate $10 for a certificate, please place a check with your donation in an envelope marked “Thanksgiving Certificate” and drop it in the collection basket at any of our parish Masses during the weekend of November 16-17.
You can also drop it off at the Parish Office by Monday, November 18th, marked “St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive.”
Thank you for your outstanding generosity in helping the needy during this holiday season!
As is our annual parish custom, we will again prepare dinner for the residents of West View Towers. Pre-made food donations will be served to the residents on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th for a noon meal.
All food items are needed from turkey to dessert. We will serve about 55 people, so lots of help is appreciated. With enough volunteers, each person would be preparing a food item for six to eight people. Items can be delivered to the Towers between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day If you can’t donate food, maybe your family would like to make cards or decorations for the residents!
For more information and to volunteer, call Janie Costello at 412-931-5017 or email her at [email protected]. Your participation will be greatly appreciated!
