Project HOPE is a week-long mission trip that reminds those who attend that as Christians we are called to serve one another. Since 1978, each year in late June a group of teens and adult volunteers head to eastern Kentucky to serve the underserved in the area but taking on various construction projects for families to improve their quality of life.
Some of these projects include: the construction of handicap ramps, rebuilding floors, repairing or replacing roofs, installing bathrooms, creating outhouses, raising additions, and building an entire dwelling in which a family can live. Along with the physical work done for these families, the members of Project HOPE also take time to connect with the families forming connections and sharing their faith.
Project HOPE combines the best resources and abilities of its members in a united effort to help the people of the Appalachian region of Kentucky. This is accomplished while providing a meaningful education experience for every member of the trip. This education focuses on the values of the Roman Catholic Church as well as practical knowledge of basic construction techniques.
This trip allows those who attend to reflect on the words from the Letter of James “I will show you my faith by my works.” As Project HOPE strives to empower its members to live out the Gospel loving and serving the lord and seeing Him in each and every person they encounter, while in Kentucky and in their daily lives.
Who can come on the Project HOPE trip?
All students heading into grades 11-12 for the following academic year are invited to participate, and any adults that have all the appropriate clearances may also attend the trip.
